These holidays we have some exciting holiday programmes - the Summer Sunsational Challenge (in combination with other facilities) and two special holiday Expeditions!

Summer Sensational Challenge!!

Complete the challenges at any of the participating sites to earn badges, free swims at Timaru District pools and to get into the draw for some great prizes including vouchers, a tablet and even a laptop!

Call in to any participating venue during January to collect your challenge card and learn how to take part. Click on the venues below to check out their opening hours

- Timaru: South Canterbury Museum, Aigantighe Art Gallery, Timaru District Library, CBay

- Temuka: Temuka Library & Service Centre or Temuka Courthouse Museum
- Geraldine: Geraldine Library & Service Centre or Geraldine Historical Museum

Expeditions

Rock Pool discovery - Thursday 14 Jan 10:00am - 11:30am

Meet at Te Aitarakihi cultural centre on Bridge street. We’ll walk down to the Smithfield rock pools to find out who lives there. Bring clear or white plastic containers to view creatures in.

No charge, no need to book, all children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Fossil hunt - Tuesday 19 Jan 1:30 - 3:30pm

Meet at Evans Crossing picnic area, Pareora River to get a closer look at fossils. Bring containers, sun protection, a chisel or screwdriver and some eyewear.

No charge, no need to book, all children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
