By considering problems that faced people in the past, and examining methods and means of manufacture, students are able to see how technological developments have influenced and affected the development of our community. Use of available materials has led to different solutions over time and these can be justified in terms of their historical context.

Conceptual ideas could include: Maori technology, Local inventors.

Dress and Undress – Costume and textiles: Look at changes in clothing and accessories: materials, construction and design through photographs and close-up of costumes from 19th and 20th C: Try on a reproduction 19th C corset and crinoline.
