125th Suffrage Celebrations

2018 marks the 125th anniversary of Women’s Suffrage in New Zealand. On 19 September 1893 the Electoral Act 1893 was passed, giving all women in New Zealand the right to vote.

The South Canterbury Museum is hosting the NCWSC and Zonta Club of Timaru's 125 Suffrage Celebration Ceremony.

This celebration commences with a planting in White Garden setting adjacent to the Museum at 5.30pm
Followed by the opening of Suffrage 125 display in the South Canterbury Museum.
