Biographical Notes

Daniel Robinson was born on 16 May 1895 at Liverpool, Lancashire, England, the second son of John Henry William and Amy (née Pearson) Robinson. He was baptised on 5 December 1895 at the Laurel Road Chapel, Liverpool. In 1901 Daniel was at home with his family atWest Derby, and in 1911 he was a farm labourer with his uncle, Leonard Robinson, at Canny Brow Foot, Galebeck, Westmorland. By 1916 Daniel was a farm labourer for Mr Squire, Pleasant Valley, St Andrews, South Canterbury. He left Timaru by the express on 8 March 1916, part of the South Canterbury quota for the 14th Reinforcements.

Daniel married Doris Hoyle in 1921 in Yorkshire, England. He died on 15 June 1971 at Hamilton, New Zealand, He was cremated and his ashes were interred in the RSA Section of Te Awamutu Cemetery. Doris died in 1980 and was interred at Te Awamutu.
