Biographical Notes

Walter Henry Cox was born, as Walter Henry Clark, on 16 July 1883 at Timaru, the son of Emily. He was educated at Timaru South and Timaru Main schools. He married Ida Adelinda Hofmann on 23 February 1905 in Queensland; and on 9 December 1931 in Queensland, he married Myrtle Millicent Henderson. Ida had died in 1929. On enlistment on 19 November 1914, he was 31 years old and a labourer. He had previously served in the South African War. Walter Henry Cox died on 26 July 1949 in Queensland. His half-brother, Alfred Edward Cox, also served in World War I with the Australian Forces.
