Biographical Notes

Robert Johnston Blair, born on 21 October 1888 at Timaru, was the son of Robert and Margaret (née Adam) Blair. He enlisted with the Australian Imperial Force on 20 October 1917 at Townsville, Queensland. Twenty-nine years old, a selector and accountant, and single, he nominated his mother as next-of-kin – Mrs Robert Blair, Blairholm, Maryborough, Queensland. He had served 18 months with the Grammar School Cadets. Robert married Ada Lillian Stafford in 1928 at Blairholm. He died on 21 March 1931 at Bonda, Queensland, aged 42 years, and was buried at Maryborough Cemetery. R. J. Blair was one of the soldiers whose photogaraphs were published in The Queenslander Pictorial, 1918.
