Biographical Notes

Hugh Catherwood was the son of Robertand Mary Jane (Minnie, née Morris) Catherwood. He was educated at Springbrook and St Andrews schools.Trooper H. Catherwood returned to New Zealand from Egypt per the troopship “Ellenga”, embarking at Suez on 23 July 1919 and arriving in late August. His brother Robert George Catherwood also served in World War I. Hugh married Lilla Mavis Elizabeth rountree in 1930.
