Biographical Notes

Henry Leslie Anderson was the second son of Robert August and Alice Edith (Edith, née Box) Anderson. He was educated at Pleasant Point School. He married Ethel Maude Charter on 15 May 1912 at Timaru. Henry and Ethel had two children – Leslie Dexter born on 6 April 1913 at Pleasant Point and Bernard born on 21 February 1917 at Dunedin. Trooper H. L. Anderson returned to New Zealand from Egypt per the troopship “Ellenga”, embarking at Suez on 23 July 1919 and arriving in late August. His brother Ernest Edward Anderson also served in World War I, and his oldest brother William Robert Anderson enlisted.
