Biographical Notes

James Keith was the eldest son of James and Christina (née McKenzie) Keith. He was at home with his family at Halkirk, Caithness, in 1891 and 1901. On 25 June 1917, he left with men from the South Canterbury military district for camp. His younger brother, John George Keith Keith, who served with the Highland Light Infantry, was killed in action in 1917 at Ypres, Belgium.
