Biographical Notes
Edwin Percy Willetts was the third son of Charles Obed and Christina Clark (née Cottrell) Willetts. He was educated at Papakaio and Oamaru North schools. Embarking at Tilbury on 12 March 1919 for the return home, Edwin reached Lyttelton, New Zealand by the “Corinthic” in April 1919, one of 1142 soldiers aboard. He married Veda Elsie Alice Melton in 1921. His older brothers, Albert John Willetts and Arthur Henry Willetts, both served in World War I.
