Biographical Notes
James Brackenridge Struthers was the third son of Henry and Rosa Harriet (née Rapsey) Struthers. James was educated at Fairlie, Pareora West and Ashwick Flat schools. He was a blacksmith at Clarendon, near Milton, when he was called up. James had married Elizabeth Maud Campbell on 24 April 1916 at Rangiora. He had served with the Mackenzie Mounted Rifles Volunteers until their disbandment, and he had been medically examined at Fairlie and Timaru. His youngest brother herbet Lewis Brackenridge Struthers served in World War I..Alexander Francis Struthers, who was called up in 1918, was probably his brother.
