Biographical Notes

Robert Victor White was the elder son and first born of the Reverend William White and his wife Agnes Jane née Carleton. William and Agnes married in January 1879 in Northern Ireland, their first three children being born there. In about 1885 they came to New Zealand. The Rev White and his family spent a few years at Pleasant Point, during which time their fourth child, William, was born. Robert was educated at Pleasant Point and at Wallacetown in Southland. He married Ruth Mary Mundey in 1913. His younger brother, William Theodore White, served in World War I.
