Biographical Notes
Charles Thomas was the son of John Harry and Elizabeth (née Ford) Thomas. He and his brother William, who was also born in the USA, settled in South Canterbury. C. Thomas embarked from Liverpool on 16 November 1917 by the “Ruahine” and arrived back in New Zealand on 6 January 1918. Charles married Bertha Winifred Smith in 1920. They had a family of six.
