Biographical Notes
James Aythorn was the son of John and Mary Aythorn. Born on 13 November 1871 at Tintwistle, Cheshire, England, he was baptised there on 5 May 1872. Sergeant J. Aythorn, of Timaru, returned to New Zealand per the "Rimutaka" at the end of 1919. He married Louisa Emily Johnson in 1935 in New Zealand.
