Biographical Notes
Gavin Watson Crerar wa sthe son of John and MarthaBaxter (née Watson) Crerar. In 1881 Gavin and his two older brothers were at home at Barony, Glasgow, Scotland, with their parents. Gavin wa seducated at Oamaru - at Oamaru South School and the Grammar School, transferring to Timaru Main School in 1889 and from there to Waimataitai School two years later. His father died in 1902 at Timaru. He married Edith Evelyn Leah on 31 August 1914 at Timaru. He died very suddenly, collapsing at the gate of his home in Chalmers Street, Timaru.
