Biographical Notes
Lionel Bews ord was the son of James and Mabel Barbara (née Simpson) Ord. He was educated privately and at Timaru Main School. When he enlisted he was a clerk for Dalgety & Co, Timaru. His father died while he was serving overseas. Lionel returned to New Zealand with Draft 187 which brought a large number of soldiers home in early October 1918.
