Biographical Notes
John Patrick O'Dowd was the son of John and Norah (née Waters) O'Dowd. He was eductaed at the Marist Brothers School, Timaru, and at Fairlie School. He returned to Fairlie, New Zealand with Draft 187 which brought a large number of soldiers home in early October 1918. In 1924 he married Elaine Alice Elizabeth Felkins, and they had five daughters.
