Michael John Dunne (born Dunn) was the son of James and Susannah Dunne (Dunn), of Timaru. Susannah died in 1893. L-Sgt. M. J. Dunne returned to Timaru with Draft 187 which brought a large number of soldiers home in early October 1918. Michael married Catherine Hertnon in 1920. Catherine died in 1954. Sometime after Michael married Mary Ellen. In the mid 1960s they moved to Hastings.
