Biographical Notes

William Constable was the youngest of the family of George and Jane (née Ford) Constable. George and Jane married in 1869 in England and came to New Zealand in 1874 with two young children. George senior died in 1916 at the Timaru Hospital, his wife Jane having died in 1911 at Napier . William was educated at Kakhu (Hilton) School. He married Frances Elizabeth Hanson in 1928. His brother, George Constable, enlisted, and a nephew, Arthur George Payne, served in World War I.William saw service in world War II also.
