Biographical Notes

John Maurice Mahony was the younger son of Joseph and Kathleen Maud (née Doyle) Mahony. He was born on 10 July 1896 at Timaru and baptised Catholic on 2 August 1896 at Timaru. He was educated at Sacred Heart and Marist Brothers schools in Timaru and at Timaru South School. John was a cousin of Gordon Richard and Joseph Mahoney who also served.
