Biographical Notes

Robert (Bob) Kidd was the son of Irish born Henry Kidd and his Scottish wife Christina (née Donald). He was educated at Shag Point, Moeraki and Palmerston schools. Bob married Agnes Watson McKenny (or McKenney, formerly Love) in 1919. He started farming at Sutton, Otago, when he won a land ballot for returned soldiers. Theer the family first lived in a tent. There was an army trainging camp sited on that farm. It is said that his war wounds contributed to his death. His brothers John (Jack) and David also served in World War I, and brthers Gavin (Guy) and Thomas (Tom) served in the South African War. His son Henry McKenney Kidd served in World War II
