Biographical Notes

Arthur Henry Orwin was the older son of Reuben and Elizabeth (née Senior) Orwin. He was educated at Timaru Main School. Arthur joined the Bank of New Zealand on 3 April 1900 and later served as a teller at Foxton and Bleheim. Arthur married Ada Maud Johnson on 15 January 1913 at Wellington. Their son, Francis Reuben Orwin, was born on 1 February 1914 at Blenheim. When Arthur enlisted, he was posted at Blenheim. By 1928 he was a bank manager and living at Onehunga. Arthur's brother, Francis Reuben Ginn Orwin, served in World War I.
