Biographical Notes
Peter Stanley Lownie, known as Stanly, was the son of Peter and Mary (née Wright), Lownie, this family being probably the only one of the Lownie name in New Zealand. Stanley was educated at the Winchester and Temuka schools before going out to work on the farm. Private P. S. Lownie returned to New Zealand in early March 1918. He married Mary Patricia Hurley in 1927.
