Biographical Notes
Isabella Young Scott, born on 4 August 1872 at Edendale, Southland, and known at times as Bella, was the eldest child and only daughter of James Scott and his first wife, Jane née Lorimer. Her mother died in 1883, leaving five young children. When James married again, to Letitia Anderson, Isabella gained a half-sister. Sister Isabella Young Scott gave three years and 82 days of service in World War I, all but 54 days overseas.
