Biographical Notes

Charles Alexander Gaitt, born in 1883, was the son of Frederick James Gaitt (1839-1910) and Donaldina Gaitt (nee McKenzie, 1841-1904). Charles was a telegraph linesman living in Taumarunui when he enlisted. He gave his sister, Adeline Fredrica Gaitt (a nurse) as his next of kin.

After the war Charles married Minnie Clara Rees in 1922. The couple had no children, but Minnie had two sons from her first marriage to Charles Gilbert Rees.
