Rifleman Harold Thomas Evans was born on 8 May 1891, the son of Thomas Evans and Mary (née Attiwell) of Maerewhenua.
Harold elisted on 17 August 1914, serving with H Company, 14 Battalion of the Australian Imperial Forces.
Harold married Leonora Marie Winstanley, and died on 23 March 1963 at Traralgon, Victoria, Australia, Age 71.
Harold's brother's Eyre Llewellyn Evans (KIA), Owen Evans, and Hugh McAlpine Evans also served in WWI with New Zealand Forces. His brother-in-law, Edward Mark Hoare, served at the same time with the Navy.
