Charles was the husband of L. James, of Park Gate, Ash Prior, Taunton, Somerset, England.
Prior to enlisting he had worked as a labourer for R. Frazer , Albury. After having served overseas he died on 17 November 1918 of broncho pneumonia following influenza at the Military Hospital, Featherston Military Camp, Featherston
