At enlistment: height 5ft 5in; weight 9 stone 6 pounds; hair flaxen; eyes blue. October 1915 shrapnel wound to leg, evacuated to Malta; wounded in action, shell shock France 3 Oct 1916, remained with unit; wounded 24 Sep 1918. Married Alice May Kay in West Ham, England 28 Dec 1918; attested 21 Jan 1913 Royal NZ Field Artillery; seconded to NZEFV 16 Oct 1914. Rejoined Christchurch Cadre Aug 1919 and at own request discharged April 1922. During the war his total service was 4 years 335 days. Originally attested and served as Arthur. Declaration signed 14 Aug 1919 the correct name is Alfred
