Biographical Notes

Roy Grenville HAMILTON who was born on 21 September 1891 at Temuka, was the son of Thomas Albert HAMILTON and his wife, Charlotte (Lottie) Lavinia née WOODFIELD. Roy married Helen Evelyn HANNA on 3 April 1918 at Christchurch. His brothers Stephen Churchill and Thomas Geoffrey HAMILTON also served in World War I. He was a cousin of Gordon Cuthbert, Hubert Arthur and Hugh Staples HAMILTON. Hubert being killed in action 1915 at Gallipoli, of Claude John HAMILTON, and of Frederic Carrington and Rodolph Edward AGASSIZ, all of whom served in World War I.
