Biographical Notes

Robert Joseph DAY was the youngest son of Robert William and Mary (nee LUSEY) DAY. His cousins, John Arthur SULLIVAN and Victor Joseph SULLIVAN, also served in WWI. Robert, his cousin Arthur SULLIVAN, and two other servicemen were tendered a very successful farewell social, "easily one of the best social evenings held in Albury for some time past". They were given a most enthusiastic reception when they took their seats on the stage. Robert and Arthur were presented with a shaving outfit. They responded suitably, to the hearty cheers of the large audience. The evening's entertainment consisted of dancing, songs, recitations and cards, with light refreshments during an interval, and three hearty cheers for the departing men at the conclusion.
