Biographical Notes

Charles Watson Smith was the youngest son of Moulds and Mary (née Hairsine) Smith, who had come out from England in 11877/1878. Charles Watson Smith returned to New Zealand in December 1918. Charlie married Margaret Ann (Topsy) Tait in 1921 at Timaru. His oldest brother, Isaac Hairsine Smith, was listed on the Reserve Roll, and another brother, Henry (Harry) Moulds Smith was called up.
