Biographical Notes
Son of Patrick & Margaret McCARTHY, of Esk Valley. Brothers Mark David & Richard Lawrence McCARTHY also served in WWI. On active service with the NZEF at time of father's death on 21 March 1918 (Quartermaster R. J. V. McCarthy). Ex-pupil of Esk Valley School.
