Biographical Notes
Son of James & Frances MABEN. Was chief accountant in office of Town Clerk, Timaru. 1916 promoted to corporal (attached to N.Z.N.C. & leaving on the Maheno); next sergeant, then Adjutant, then Captain (1917). Left NZ as staff member of hospital ship Maheno. Nominal Roll footnotes: Ex H.S. Maheno, 2nd charter, 1st & 2nd sailings - returning to duty. Brother Keppoch Macdonald MABEN was killed in action in 1918 in France. [See Bio.]
