Biographical Notes

William Hilbert COLLINS, known as Gill, was the son of William Thomas and Florence Annie (nee STOREY) COLLINS. He returned home to Timaru, NZ, on 24 September 1919 by the 'Corinthic', after more than 4 years of service, 3 years and 314 days of that overseas in Egypt and Western Europe. He was educated at Waimataitai and Timaru Main schools. Before his return to New Zealand and discharge Gill was married on 23 July 1919 in Holburn, London, to Edith Frances FERGUSON, who who survived him with their family - Doreen, Shirley and Mervyn.
