Biographical Notes

Son of William Kennedy & Elizabeth Elliot (nee PATERSON) ANDERSON. Married Violet McCALLUM, in 1920 at Palmerston North. Present at first landing at Gallipoli & served in all the fighting at the Dardanelles without receiving a scratch.Mother incorrectly informed in January 1916 that he had been killed. To return to NZ in October 1918. Brother John Elliott ANDERSON also served in WWI. James died at his sister's residence in Geraldine, his wife Violet having predecesaed him. Members of the Geraldine RSA paid their respects at his funeral.
