Biographical Notes

Joseph Tait was born on 7 July 1887 at Ashburton, the youngest son of George and Ann (Annie, née Comrie) Tait. Bombardier Tait embarked with the 20th Reinforcements on 2 January 1917. Farrier Tait returned to New Zealand in March 1918 by Draft 147. Joseph married Grace Lena Jones in 1919. He died on 15 April 1963, aged 75 years. His brother James died of disease on 15 September 1917, and his mother died about ten days later. Another brother, Henry, also served in World War One.
