Biographical Notes

Guy Francis Hooper was born on 10 April 1892 at Temuka, the third son of Thomas

Francis andMary (née Chapman) Hooper. He and his siblings were educated at Temuka School. Mr Hooper died in 1914. On 3 August 1916 at Temuka, Guy Francis Hooper had been rejected as medically unfit on account of deafness. His name was drawn in the ballot in 1917 and he enlisted on 28 March 1917 at Timaru. He was then single. Guy married Edith Annie Ellen Payne on 21 June 1917 at Temuka.Guy died in 1950 and was buried with his parents at Temuka, while Edith was buried at Timaru in 1966. His brother, William Richard Hooper, served overseas in World War One.
