Biographical Notes

David Wishart Agnew was born on 4 July 1894 at Invercargill, the youngest son of Thomas and Elizabeth Jane (née Taylor) Agnew. He was educated at Invercargill South School. He was a farm labourer at Pleasant Point when he enlisted. D. W. Agnew was in quite a large draft of men who went into camp at the beginning of March 1918 as South Canterbury’s quota for the 39th Reinforcements. Before leaving the men were given a brief farewell at the Drill Shed.
