Biographical Notes
Stanley John Prattley was born on 10 November 1892 at Winchester, the son of Frederick and Elizabeth (née Bryan) Prattley. He was educated at Winchester, Seadown and Temuka schools. S. J. Prattley, 7/2128, of Temuka, returned to New Zealand per the “Kia Ora”, embarking at Liverpool in March 1919, the draft being due at Lyttelton on 7 May 1919. He married Mary Elizabeth (Molly) Davidson in 1922. He died on 13 April 1971, aged 78 years, and was buried in Ashburton Cemetery, Molly with him in 1973. His brother Horace James Prattley was killed in action in 1916 in France, and another, Oliver Albert Prattley, was called up.
