Biographical Notes
William Stavers Parker was born on 6 November 1890 at Christchurch, the youngest son of Herbert and Anne Margaret (née Whitham) Parker. The family had been farming at “Cliffbrook”, Cave, for some years before William enlisted, and that was the address of his father, his nominated next-of-kin. W. S. Parker, 23101, of Timaru, returned to New Zealand per the “Kia Ora”, embarking at Liverpool in March 1919, the draft being due at Lyttelton on 7 May 1919. After the war, the family moved to Fendalton, Christchurch. William died on the 19 April 1925 at the Military Hospital, Christchurch and was buried at Waimairi Cemetery. (The burial record names him as William Steven Parker.)
