Biographical Notes

Maurice Tyrell Austin, born on 5 April 1894 at Temuka, was the son of John Tyrell and Agnes (née Pawson) Austin. He was educated at Temuka School. M. T. Austin, 14048, returned to New Zealand per the “Arawa” (Draft No. 244), reaching Lyttelton about 12 May 1919. Maurice Austin, a tailor, married tailoress Winifred Louisa Harris on 10 August 1926 at St Peter’s Anglican Church, Temuka.
