Biographical Notes

Cecil John Perriman was born on 24 September 1877 at Timaru, the second son of Tasmanian born Joseph Perriman and his Scottish wife Jessie née McLeod. Cecil and his older brother were educated at Miss Alport’s School and Oamaru North School. Joseph and Jessie and their family all went to Australia. Cecil John Perriman enlisted with the Australian Imperial Force on 1 February 1916. An upholsterer, he was 39 years 4 months old, and he named his wife as next-of-kin – Mrs Catherine Selina Perriman, McIndoe Road, Mordialloc, Victoria. Cecil had married Catherine Selina Pollett in 1908. Private Cecil John Perriman died on 8 February 1957 at Edithvale, Kingston, Victoria, aged 79 years. He was buried at Springvale Botanical Cemetery, Dandenong, Victoria, with his wife who had died in 1956.
