Biographical Notes

Frederick David Martin was the son of Andrew and Margaret Janet (née Ogilvie) Martin. He was educated at Otaio and Washdyke schools. Sergeant F. D. Martin returned to New Zealand from Egypt per the troopship “Ellenga”, embarking at Suez on 23 July 1919 and arriving in late August. His brother Andrew Martin also served in World War I. Frederick married Betsy Eva Fenwick in 1921.
