Biographical Notes

David Clark was the youngest son of William and Catherine (née Ward) Clark. David was baptised on 3 April 1892 at the Pareora West Methodist Church. He was educated at Pareora West School, leaving when he turned 14 to go out to work. He enlisted in 1917 and his service was in New Zealand only. David married Annie Catherine McAuley in 1921. The Methodist Church of Timaru placed a handsome window in the Bank Street Church as a memorial for the war victims of the congregations. Apart from the names of the fallen appearing on the window, the names of all who served were inscribed in a book which was to be preserved in the Church. Included in the names was that of David Clark.
