Biographical Notes
Samuel McCully was the younger son of William and Margaret (Maggie, née McDonald), both from Ireland. He was educated at Clandeboye, Fairview and Milford schools. Late in 1917 his father received a telegram stating that Private S. McCully had been transferred to a Convalescent Depot in France. Samuel married Ivy Edith Celia Clark in 1919 at Wimbledon, London, England. Samuel and Ivy divorced in 1931 in New Zealand. Samuel is buried with his grandparents, Samuel and Mary ann McCully, in Temuka Cemetery.
