Biographical Notes
George Albert Harris was the son of Richard and Sarah (née Hughes) Harris, the eleventh child in a family of seventeen. Richard and Sarah are buried at Timaru. George married Jane Elizabeth Emery on 8 November 1915 at Timaru. Their son, George Francis Harris, was born on 12 January 1917 at Timaru. Late in 1917 he was selected by lot from the First Division and called up. His brother David Gordon Harris was called up also and saw service at the Front.
