Biographical Notes

Frederick (Fred) Davidson was the eldest son of David and Ann (Annie, née Dorward) Davidson, from Forfarshire, Scotland. In 1891 and 1901 Fred was at home at Kirkden, Forfarshire, with his parents and siblings (six boys and two girls), in 1901 a news agents message boy. He married johanna McLean on 21 January 1910 at Frockheim, Forfarshire. Their only child, Albert Dick, was born on 23 July 1911 at Frockheim. Two of his brothers - Arthur and Mark - were killed in action in France, Arthur in 1916 and Mark in 1918. Two others - Charles and Henry - also enlisted.
