Biographical Notes
Reginald Pearse was the fifth son of Digory Sargent and Sarah Ann (née Browne) Pearse. Digory and Sarah had married in 1871 at Timaru and had ten children born in South Canterbury. Reginald was called up, and on 25 June 1917, he left with men from the South Canterbury military district for camp. His brother, Richard William Pearse also served in World War I. Another brother, John Brown Pearse, was called up. Reg married Nell Marjorie Henderson in 1928.
