Biographical Notes

John Merton Bingham was the son of Ernest and Rachel Agnes (née Hewitt) Bingham, perhaps their only child. He was educated at Geraldine District High School, Christ's College and Southland Boys' High School. He gained his Certificate of Proficiency in 1908 at Geraldine. John married Phyllis Louisa Hanna in 1921. He was a very highly qualified Engineer-in-Chief to Radio Broadcasting NZ. He supervised the installation and erection of all broadcasting stations in New Zealand.
