Biographical Notes

Albert George Capill was the only son of James and Mary Ann (née Smith) Capill. He had one sister,Mary Ann. Their mother died aged 27 years in 1888 and is buried at Pleasant Point with her parents, Albert and Mary Ann Smith. Their father may have died in 1891 and been buried at Kaiapoi. Albert attended several schools - Silverstream, Fairlie, Cricklewood, Ashwick Flat. In 1917, when he was farming at Fairlie, he was called up and registered at the Defence Office, Timaru. On 26 February 1917 at St Mary's, Timaru, he married Daisy Ellen Bray. His name is inscribed on the Ashwick Flat War Memorial (Returned)
